Food Fortitude is a food security movement that begins in America’s most food-insecure state and works to eradicate hunger there first, then replicates what works nationwide. It does this by equipping private individuals, corporations, and community organizations with practical knowledge and local pathways to our four pillars of stability:
Production: Promoting local food production and plugging into nearby farms and agriculture markets.

Locally made Agri-food products: Creating food where we are will eliminate dependency on mass production.

Access: Reliable access affordable, nutritious options through existing programs and local distribution partners.
Education: By pairing education with clear, community-specific connections to production and distribution, Food Fortitude turns food access from a constant crisis into a durable, locally powered system. Take the pledge to grow your own food security or be a part of strengthening our food systems.

Food Insecurity is defined as: the condition of not having access to sufficient food, or food of an adequate nutritional quality, to meet one's basic needs. More than 800 million people are estimated to be living every day with hunger or food insecurity.

We can combat Food Insecurity and Hunger at the same time. Hunger refers to someone experiencing the physical sensation of discomfort caused by a lack of food. Food insecurity is also a lack of available financial resources for food per household. It can also mean having access to low nutrient dense food like fast foods and snacks, as apposed to fresh fruits and vegetables and healthier options like home cooked whole foods sourced from farmers markets, farms, gardens, and stores with healthier options from food. Many of these types of stores are not in lower income and high crime communities. The good thing is that there is some land located very close to everyone. Either in a back yard, side lot, school grounds, family plot or nearest farm, we can grow in ways that produce healthy food where we are with what we have and positively effect communities. This is not a community garden movement, this is a food freedom movement that brings your food back to you on your land with the resources you need. This is a food access initiative that can reach anyone, anywhere until we eliminate the pandemic of food insecurity and hunger.
